Overview

NOTE: This is a legacy and discontinued product not available for order.

The RST Profile Monitoring System for Tunnel Concrete Segments is a series of tilt meters, fixed to the tunnel wall on each of the precast concrete segments erected in place as tunnel lining by a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The system is based on the assumption that each concrete segment is a rigid body and that the complete ring deforms by rotation of the individual segments one relative to the other, and the rotation points are the contact surfaces between adjacent segments.

Profile Monitoring Systems for Tunnel Concrete Segments are commonly used to:

  • Monitor the convergence of precast concrete segments in TBM-driven tunnels during construction for control and safety.
  • Monitor tunnel deformation due to nearby construction activities.
  • Monitor long-term deformation and performance of existing tunnels.

I’m very happy with the quality of the instrumentation and technical support from RST, as always. They worked with us from the initial stages of the project to ensure that we were fully prepared and equipped to use the RSTAR network for the first time. They delivered everything within the tight project time frame to ensure that there were no delays on site, and the submersible tilt meters looked like new even after over twelve months of being submerged in Thames water!
