Sales Representative – US Sales Team

US Sales Team member – initial focus on Midwest US

Frequent travel is required (post COVID)

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on developing and maintaining relationships with owners and engineering firms in a specific market sector (one of Water or Mining), primarily in Mid-Western US
  • Qualify, develop and maintain a pipeline of projects to meet market sector targets
  • Become technically proficient in RST product offering for the specific market sector to allow for technical customer meetings to occur
  • Consistently use CRM for documenting customer correspondence and follow up activity
  • Coordinate with US inside sales for purpose of transfer of information required for customer quotes/orders

Field Service Engineer

As Field Service Engineer – Remote, reporting to our Field Services Manager, you will have responsibilities within RST’s Field Services department for a specific remote project site. You will provide support to our customers in Northern British Columbia. Our Field Service group is responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of RST’s geotechnical and civil instrument installations designed to monitor the long-term performance of a new dam structure. As a key member of this team, you are customer focused, team oriented, organized, detail oriented, entrepreneurial, technically competent and a self-starter. This role is Fly-In/Fly-Out – 15 days in/6 days out.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of installation procedures and execution plans for the installation of geotechnical instruments to monitor geotechnical conditions of surface and underground facilities.
  • Carry out function testing of geotechnical instruments and data acquisition equipment prior to field deployment.
  • Provide technical supervision of drilling, excavation and other construction activities related to the installation, monitoring and maintenance of geotechnical and civil instrumentation.
  • Provide technical supervision for the installation of geotechnical and civil instruments in drillholes, excavations and civil structures, specifically: vibrating wire and pneumatic piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, shapeAccelArrays (SAAs), settlement cells/plates, survey markers/monuments, temperature sensing cables, cable trenches, etc.
  • Prepare detailed documentation of the completed work, including installation reports, commissioning records and as-built drawings.
  • Carry out manual readings of instruments and the downloading of dataloggers connected to instruments.
  • Carry out data checks, data reductions, data interpretations and troubleshooting of data from various geotechnical and civil instruments.
  • Assist the Project Manage/Engineer with on-site coordination and timely submission of project deliverables.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Civil/Geotechnical/Mining/Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree from an accredited Canadian institution or international equivalent.
  • Member in good standing with EGBC or eligible to apply.
  • 5 years’ experience with civil/geotechnical instrumentation in heavy civil and mining construction environment.
  • Customer focused with superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong safety management experience.
  • Organized, attentive to detail, strong work ethic, and well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Have a Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Willing and able to work in remote location.

Product Support Engineer

As a Product Support Engineer, reporting to our Service Manager in Vancouver (Canada), you will have lead responsibilities within the RST Service division to support projects all over the world. You will provide unparalleled remote support to our customers with occasional travels. As a key member of this team, you are Customer Focused, Team Oriented, Organized, Detail Oriented, Technically Competent, and a Self-Starter. This role has travel requirements with up to 10%. The Product Support Engineer is responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of geotechnical and civil instrument commissioning, troubleshooting, and decommissioning as well as training of customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to our customers to resolve geotechnical instrument issues.
  • Perform, provide assistance and supervise installation & troubleshooting of geotechnical instrument such as: piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, load cells, cable trenches,
  • Carry out data checks, data reductions, data interpretations, and troubleshooting of data from various geotechnical and civil
  • Remotely perform or coordinate third party and customer activities such as:

-Installation, configuration, and service of data logging and networking equipment.

-Supervise and/or install geotechnical instruments and sensors.

-Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning and/or damaged systems.

  • Manage high volume of tickets, remotely troubleshoot customer issues, and proactively identify field visit requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Civil/Electrical/Electronics/Mining/Geotechnical Engineering degree, from an accredited institution.

Other technical-related certifications with a mix of experience will be considered.

  • 1-3 years experience with geotechnical and civil instrumentation, (inclinometers, extensometers, piezometers, ), telemetry, electronics, communications, or other similar disciplines.
  • Must have basic programming and electrical skills.
  • Construction experience is an asset.
  • Customer-focused with superior written and verbal communication
  • Organized with attention to detail.

  • Bilingual Spanish/English is an asset.

Technical Support Specialist (UK based)

As a Technical Support Specialist, your primary responsibility is to provide prompt technical support for all RST Instruments products. As a key member of our team in the UK you are Customer Focused, Detail Oriented, Organized, Entrepreneurial, Technically Competent and a Self-Starter. From time-to-time you will also be required to travel to customer’s sites for Field Service work that includes but not limited to: supervising equipment installation, some actual installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to Customer emails and phone calls pertaining to technical support for all RST Instruments supplied geotechnical instruments.
  • Liaise directly with customers, trouble shoot and provide  resolutions to their technical problems in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain continual communication with management and work cohesively with sales, production, engineering and quality team members across the organization.
  • Conduct pre-installation testing of geotechnical instruments and instrumentation equipment.
  • Provide over the phone technical supervision during installation of geotechnical engineering instrumentation specifically: piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, load cells, wiring etc.
  • Install, configure and service datalogger equipment and network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning and/or damaged instruments.
  • Carry out data checks, data reductions, data interpretations and trouble-shooting of data from various geotechnical and civil instruments.
  • Travel to customer sites to:
    • Install, configure and service data logging and networking equipment.
    • Supervise and/or install geotechnical instruments and sensors.
    • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning and/or damaged systems.
  • Analyze sensor data.
  • Create site data visualization projects in RST’s Geoviewer software.
  • Respond to customer support inquiries by phone and email.
  • Create technical reports such as documentation of progress/completed work.
  • Assist other teams with technical inquiries, testing, assembly, and equipment troubleshooting

Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Eng in either Geotechnical, Electronic, Electrical, Mining, Civil from an accredited EU Institution or International Equivalent.
  • P.Eng/EIT or eligible to register with EGBC is an assest.
  • 3 years of experience in instrumentation, telemetry, electronics, communications, or other similar disciplines.
  • 1-3 years experience with geotechnical and civil instrumentation, including piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, load cells, dataloggers, etc.
  • Electronics, programming and networking experience will be a major assest.

Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) Assembly – Lead Hand

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee work across production staff on assigned production area.
  • Liaise between Production Manager and team members to achieve Safety, Quality, OTD and Cost targets.
  • Act as a go-to person to assist team members with respect to priority, scheduling and technical concerns during shift
  • Identify and communicate safety or time concerns due to equipment, process, material or personnel.
  • Keep track of materials and inventory needs/consumptions in both physical and ERP system
  • Keep track of production efficiencies in designated area.
  • Ownership and maintenance of 5S and established lean manufacturing practices.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.
  • Demonstrate exceptional time management and organizational skills, work well in a team setting, and work well on their own with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor apprentices within your department as required.
  • Be flexible with the schedule and must be open to travel.

Assembler Pipe Technician

Our Pipe Technicians are responsible for manufacturing PVC or ABS casing, and accessories. Your duties include production, quality control, packaging, and workplace maintenance. You will be producing quality parts while developing a strong and positive production team. You will be expected to contribute ideas/input towards the growth of the company. You will coordinate with other members of the team to fulfill orders in a timely manner and will organize material and orders to increase efficiency within the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Operating CNC lathes, and custom machinery to produce casing/accessories
  • Manually assembly of products or sub-items
  • Physical inventory and stock counting
  • Producing quality parts
  • Contribute ideas/input towards the growth of the company
  • Coordinating with other members of the team to fulfill orders in a timely manner
  • Organizing material and orders to increase efficiency within the department
  • Efficiency planning, setup, safety checks, operation, maintenance, programming
  • Gluing plastic sub-assemblies, hand drilling/riveting, inspecting, placing caps/covers on parts, installing o rings inside grooves
  • Checking parts with samples, gauges, and measuring equipment
  • Accurate counting and planning relevant to current and other orders
  • Organization while in production stages
  • Cleaning work area after use
  • Maintenance of equipment and department
  • Watching physical levels of usable goods, and sellable goods. Working with team and managers to maintain accuracy of stock
