Senior Manufacturing Engineer

As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead the ME team in providing technical expertise in the manufacturing process development and improvement of all products manufactured at RST.   This position works with Production Control, Production, Quality and Design Engineering to ensure manufacturing processes at RST used to make geotechnical instruments are optimized to assure safety, quality, and cost efficiency. Production Assembler (Data Acquisition Systems) 27/28

Reporting to our Production Manager our Data Acquisition System (DAS) Technicians are responsible for assembling a variety of electronics equipment following mechanical and schematic drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Build cable assemblies and mechanical sub-assemblies
  • Read and interpret instructions and wiring diagrams
  • Assemble parts and use tools to fit electronic components together
  • Assemble electrical or electronic components, sub-assemblies, wiring and enclosures using rivets, bolts, soldering or micro-welding equipment
  • Perform functional testing of products
  • Daily cleanup and maintenance of work area

Qualifications and Skills

Sensor Assembler

Sensors Assemblers are responsible for assembling a variety of vibrating wire sensor equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble product parts by hand according to work orders and assembly drawings
  • Reading and interpreting work orders and assembly drawings

Shipper/Receiver

As our Shipper/Receiver, you will join a team of dedicated individuals within our manufacturing operation. You will work closely with team members to ensure all warehouse/inventory activities are completed on time and to the highest quality standards. You are knowledgeable in Process Improvement and Inventory Control. Your work habits emphasize safety for yourself and your co-workers. You will also provide support to other roles within the warehouse as required. This position may also require overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Receipt, reconciliation, and put-away of inbound inventory / shipments
  • Picklist coordination, packaging – boxing and crating (may require building of wooden crates for large or heavy products) and shipment of outbound orders / inventory
  • Logging and tracking all shipments / receipts in company system
  • Ensuring all processes are adhered to; documenting new processes when required
  • Working closely with Operations to ensure related service and customer goals and project timelines are met
  • Providing exceptional customer service to our clients (internal/external)

Product Engineering Manager

As Product Engineering Manager, you will have the unique opportunity to provide leadership and technical expertise in the design, development and support of an entire product portfolio of world class geotechnical products. You will work with cross-functional product development teams, as well as Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing divisions. Responsibilities

You will be responsible for leading a talented and passionate team by engaging and inspiring a high level of contribution and quality through effective project management and coordination of all activities in the following areas:

  • Budgeting oversight to ensure to ensure on time, on budget delivery of complex technical projects
  • Designing, implementing, and refining product development, validation, and testing processes
  • Translating high level product requirements into technical specifications for the development team
  • Coordinating the implementation of new products with a wide variety of stakeholders including the product management, sales, and field service teams.
  • Communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management and supporting sales on customer calls
  • Assuring that processes meet quality and applicable regulatory guidelines, including CE, EAC and other international requirements.
  • Providing guidance, support and mentorship to intermediate/junior engineering team members and encourages professional technical development.

Qualifications and Skills

  •  8+ years experience in electrical/electronic product design
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously

  • Experience using Arena PLM and Epicor ERP software tools is an asset
  • Good understanding of Design FMEA, DFM, GD&T and drafting standards

Field Service Engineer/Technician
(Site C – Fort St. John)

As Field Service Engineer – Remote, reporting to our Field Services Manager, you will have responsibilities within RST’s Field Services department for a specific remote project site. You will provide support to our customers in Northern British Columbia at a large-scale civil construction project. Our Field Service group is responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of RST’s geotechnical and civil instrument installations designed to monitor the long-term performance of a new hydroelectric dam structure. As a key member of this team, you must be customer focused, team oriented, organized, detail oriented, entrepreneurial, technically competent, and a self-starter. This role is Fly-In/FlyOut – 15 days in/6 days out.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical supervision for the installation of geotechnical and civil instruments in drill holes, excavations and civil structures, specifically: vibrating wire and pneumatic piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, ShapeAccelArrays (SAAs), settlement cells/plates, survey markers/monuments, temperature sensing cables, cable trenches, etc.
  • Provide technical supervision of drilling, excavation and other construction activities related to the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of geotechnical and civil instrumentation
  • Prepare detailed documentation of the completed work, including installation reports, commissioning records, and as-built drawings
  • Preparation of installation procedures and execution plans for the installation of geotechnical instruments to monitor geotechnical conditions of surface and underground facilities
  • Carry out function testing of geotechnical instruments and data acquisition equipment prior to field deployment
  • Carry out manual readings of instruments and the downloading of dataloggers connected to instruments
  • Carry out data checks, data reductions, data interpretations and troubleshooting of data from various geotechnical and civil instruments
  • Assist the Project Manage/Engineer with on-site coordination and timely submission of project deliverables

Qualifications and Skills

  • Geological, Geotechnical, Civil, or Mining Engineering degree from an accredited Canadian institution or international equivalent
  • Registered and in good standing with EGBC, or eligible to apply
  • Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience in heavy civil and/or mining construction environment
  • Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience conducting geotechnical site investigations, with a strong background in geotechnical instrumentation such as piezometers, inclinometers, thermistors, extensometers, ShapeAccelArrays (SAAs), etc.
  • Strong safety management experience
  • Customer focused with superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, attentive to detail, strong work ethic, and well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Willing and able to work in remote location

Geotechnical Technician

You will be working with our Service team for our client located in Fort St. John. This position is a rotational position. You will be working at our client site which is the Site C Dam. You will be posted for two (2) weeks working a 12 hour day and have one (1) week out.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out manual readings of instruments and the downloading of data loggers connected to instruments
  • Carry out data checks, and data reductions of data from various geotechnical and civil instruments

  • Complete inventory counts and organizes bin locations as assigned
  • Prepares finished goods for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product

  • Organize bin locations to be bar code labelled
  • Generate bar code labels and prepare for labelling per location
  • Coordinates with Inventory Analysts on all concerns regarding bin locations and inventory
  • Coordinates with Purchasing for the reorder of supplies required for the project
  • Working closely with Inventory Control Manager to ensure goals and project timelines are met
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Business Systems Analyst

After upgrading to a robust ERP system, Epicor, and CRM, SalesForce, the Business Systems Analyst is a new business-improvement role that is part of a team that ensures our people are fully engaged with our systems and the applications are being highly leveraged. This role requires a strong ability to understand business needs and interpret them into system processes that feed into effective reports and dashboards to support the business in making data driven decisions. The ideal candidate for this position builds relationships effortlessly, excels in designing technical solutions, finding efficiencies, and creating tools that enable continuous improvement. Responsibilities

  • Provide on-demand support to the organization, troubleshooting user challenges, investigating issues and resolving functional problems
  • Create supporting user documentation and train users of the systems
  • Identify and implement configuration and project work for further efficiencies and system improvements based on the needs of the business
  • Build and maintain effective dashboards and reports
  • Development of future application solutions including the necessary data tables and input screens
  • Lead upgrades, patches, and Epicor embedded customizations such as BAQs, BPMs, APRs and SSRS reports

I’m very happy with the quality of the instrumentation and technical support from RST, as always. They worked with us from the initial stages of the project to ensure that we were fully prepared and equipped to use the RSTAR network for the first time. They delivered everything within the tight project time frame to ensure that there were no delays on site, and the submersible tilt meters looked like new even after over twelve months of being submerged in Thames water!
